Jewellery Care Tips
All Girl with an Earring jewellery are made of solid sterling silver.
Sterling silver is typically made up of 92.5% silver, plus a primarily copper composite of 7.5%, making it susceptible to tarnish. When copper is exposed to oxygen, salt and moisture, it can cause darkening and discolouration. Tarnish can also be caused by heat, sulphur, light, perfumes and body chemistry.
To avoid silver from tarnishing, we recommend removing jewellery before swimming, cleaning, gardening, showering, exercising and swimming.
Try to keep your jewellery away from household cleaning products, chlorine, moisturiser, sunblock, perfumes and hairspray - it's best to apply perfumes, cosmetics and moisturises before putting on your jewellery.
Removing Tarnish
Over time, silver jewellery can lose its shine and begin to tarnish. To keep your jewellery clean and bright, buff regularly with a polishing cloth, use a non-abrasive silver polish or clean with a soft brush and mild dish soap.
Do not put blackened jewellery in silver dip solution as that would remove any patina used on the piece. To clean these pieces, please use silver cloth and buff gently on the surface to avoid the depressed area remain blackened.
Storing your Jewellery
Store your jewellery separately to avoid scratches, ideally in a jewellery box or soft pouch and try to avoid storing multiple pieces together. Storing in an anti-tarnish bag or cloth can keep silver jewellery bright.
